I have a 4.3 liter v-6 vortec motor and a couple months ago I was having misfires on cylinder 3. I traced down the plug and wire and it was ok. I asked my mechanic about it and i cant remember exactly what he had called it but it was "spider" something. I thought about the spider gears but then i remembered the spider gears are in the rear axel. The problem im having now is the engine will turn over but never start. When you let off the ignition switch, it sputters like its running out of gas and its starving for fuel. Any ideas?

The fuel injector is called a spider. It sounds like that is where your problem is coming from.
