I want to use royal purple atf in my 03 chevy cavaler. Is that good?

Whatever you do don't deviate from the manufacturers specification, you gonna end up having problems with the transmission -again no-

yes you can but you must get every drop of the other fluid out and change the filter. you cannot get the fluid out of the converter with the help of a trans flush machine that will evacuate all the fluid from the transmission.
