P0117 - Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Low Input
The clue is to measure the voltage at the sensor, (it must remain connected for the reading to be valid), and compare it to what is displayed on the scanner for Coolant Temperature Sensor voltage. A voltage of less than approximately 0.5 volts will set this code.
