That engine (3.2L) has a rev limiter in park and neutral to prevent it from being damaged from running at high rpm without a load on the engine. They are also set with a top rpm limiter based on the speed rating of the factory tires. Even with traction control off and in sport mode they are limited from the factory because of the risk of damage to the engine and transmission without any load.
