03 Buick P.A. Fuel gauge backwards

I have a 2003 Buick Park Ave. And I left the keys in it in the acc. Possition and the battery went dead.
We had it boosted but after getting it going I found the fuel gauge had spun backwards to rest on the underside of the stop pin.
I see that this has happened to others and wonder what the fix is.
I think it can be fixed in the computer software, a reset or recalibration.
What do you think?

I have fixed a few by simply removing the cluster and manually moving the needle back. It's like the front and back of a hill. If it crests the peak, it falls off the other side.
