So, my car will go into gear and I can drive it, but it is super slow. It takes forever to get it up to 10-15 mph.
When it was still able to get up to speed normally, the engine would get super hot really fast and the only way I could keep the temp in a normal range was to run the heater and drive fast enough that the air over the engine helped keep it cool. As soon as I slowed down the heat started to go up. There is water and coolant in the radiator. I read somewhere online that this is a symptom of a bad transmission pump so it sounds like my transmission pump is out?
Other things that might be worth mentioning - the car makes a horrendously loud humming/whining noise when driven and sometimes jumped when the transmission engaged. (before all the major problems came to a head)
What I am wondering is;
1. Do you think my transmission pump and/or transmission is out?
2. When you have the transmission replaced, does the pump get replaced automatically? Are they an integrated unit?
3. Can the pump be out without the whole transmission being out and how would you know?
4. Could there be another reason my car is overheating that has nothing to do with my transmission problems? They happened at the same time so it sounds like it is related to the pump.
