My BMW GPS problem

I had some problems with my battery and now my GPS is saying only Please wait - no matter how long you wait it never changes - and now I have no GPS system (other than please wait) Is there something I need to reset?

Check on the back of the GPS display unit for a reset button. Our reference material doesn't show a diagnostic or reset procedure.
