hi, I just want to know if there would be any effect to a cars engine when it is been raced in one place (idle)? I got to know that if I race my engine to about 5000rpm in neutral or idle that I can blow my own gasket. is it true?

thanks in advance

You can grenade the whole engine doing that. I'm really surprised that the computer doesn't have a rev limiter to prevent you from doing that.

anytime you rev an engine while its not under load to those rpms is a recipe for disaster! as for it causing a head gasket to blow? not likely.... unless you overheat it.... just out of curiousity, why are you racing the rpms in neutral???? new exaust and it sounds cool???
