i have an 03 acura tl-type s and i have been told by the acura service dept. that i need front lower ball joints- they say that you need to purchase the whole knuckle assembly and that just purchasing the balljoints won't work. the parts are over a thousand dollars! they say the balljints won't fit. this does not make sense- am i getting scammed?

" Ball joints are not serviced as a separate component and if it is worn, front knuckle must be replaced. "

The above is extracted from the shop manual. The Acura service dept is correct but that is for OEM parts. If you look around, you miight be able to get after market ball joints that might work.
