2002 Volvo S60 Timing belt and Check Engine Light

I just had the timing belt on my Volvo 2002 S60...now the check engine light is on. I took it back to the shop and they reset it but it has come on again. The code yesterday was for something to do with the camshaft if I remember right. The shop asked if the car is running ok..which it is. Then told me to drive it a couple days and the light would go off. Sounds like they are putting me off. Any advice?

I didn't get the code from the shop but I do remember him saying after I brought the car back with the check engin light on, he had to move something slightly to get the timing belt on and that he put it right back and that may have set it of. I would not want to put my house on it but I think he said the code was for the camshaft postion. I just don't want to end up spending alot of money fixing something that was done by the shop.

That CEL wasn't On, before the belt was replaced-Go back and have him double check his workmanship-Camshaft might not be positioned correctly-

Ok...i got the car home today after driving home from work and was sitting in the driveway talking to my wife with the car idleing...it then started to rev and then almost stall then rev again. could this be the same problem or something different.

Have the computer rescanned for code/s again-could be the same problem

You could have 2 different problems? The camshaft reset valve code will most likely be because the timing belt is off a tooth or 2. So I would agree with rasmataz about taking it back and have them recheck there work. As for the idle issue, you would need to have the pcv system checked to see if it is plugged up which most likely will be with the miles you have. Cleaning the pcv system and cleaning the throttle body should take care of your idle issue. After cleaning the throttle, remove the ETM fuse and leave it out for 5 minutes so that it can relearn again and adapt. Failure to do this will make the idle worse. If this does not take care of the problem then further diagnosis would be needed to see if the throttle needs to be replaced or not? Good luck to you and keep us posted please. Also let me know if you need more info on the pcv system? What gets plugged up is a small hose under the intake. The hose also breaks very easily so I would recommend taking it to the dealership for this repair or you will end up buying the whole hose assembly and that is expensive. If the hose is plugged up then the oil trap could very well be plugged up also and would need to be replaced.
