Hi my volkswagen sharan 2.0 petrol has been making a noise on startup it sounds like a rocket about to take off but then stops after a couple of minutes, it does not seem to make the noise when i'm driving there has been no loss off power, could it be that the engine management light is on .

Most likely the Secondary Air Injection Pump is noisy / leaking air... the pumps can be re-sealed by drilling out the rivets
and installing bolts and nuts.

If the pump is noisy due to bearings, then the pump needs to be replaced.

The Secondary Air Injection System is an Emission System and is primarily only active during cold starts.
