Radiator fan comes on even when engin is cold

My VW Polo Classic 1.8 radiator fan comes on irregular. Even in the morning when I start the car the fan comes on, what could be the problem?

Check and test the coolant temperature sensor/switch and fan relay

Could you give me some pointers on where the sensor and relay is and perhaps how to test them. Thank you very much

My car is polo petrol1.2 2013 model. problem is that my car radiator fan switch on automatically even when car is locked.
