The coolant has to be running down from somewhere higher. The water pump is the most likely suspect. If you can't find the source of the leak with the covers removed, consider adding a small bottle of dark purple dye to the coolant. After driving long enough for the dye to circulate, you search with a black light. The dye will show up as a bright yellow stain that you can follow back to the source.
