why is my starter slow at disengaing from flywheel.

I just had a transmission rebuild and new torque convertor and flywheel installed. Now the starter is not returning fast enought grinning whinn noise. Ireplaced starter twice with a brand new starter tried shimming starter still the same Called tranny guy he checked and asured me the right fly wheel was installed What else could it be. some electrical switch

The starter motor drive pinion is probably to close to the flexplate
