It really matters what you want it to do. If all you want are engine codes, get something inexpensive. If you want real time info, you will spend around 150 dollars. If you want one that will read all computer generated codes for all components, they are in the thousands of dollars. I personally use a actron brand. It works fine for any OBD2 system.
