the light started flashing today i have recently bought the car. I dont know if its fuel related. I also dont know how to tell the level of fuel on the gauge, i cant tell where the fuel lies.

Can't tell you about the fuel level. However, try to have the computer scanned to identify trouble codes. Most part stores will do it for free.
