to loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt-clockwise or counterclockwise?
2002 Toyota Camry, 4 cyl.

Counterclockwise. The bolt may not give at first but just keep trying it.

counterclockwise, you will most likely need a chain-link wrench like the plumbers use for pipes, wrap it around the crankshaft pulley and you will be able to hold it.
