2002 camry is running hot. What are some causes other than the thermostat?

Well jbellparks there are many tings that could be causing you problem. You might have an air pocket somewhere in the cooling system and you should try to "burp"(Open radiator cap turn on car and pour water into radiator reservoir wait and see if any air bubble come up and "burp") the system. Thats the cheaps thing you can do. If that doesn't help you your radiator may be clogged and you need to have it power flushed. If you had a blown headgasket there would be a tremendous amount of anitfreeze and oil all around you motor. If you ruled out the thermostat then I would try "burping" it or flushing it.
