2002 Suzuki Xl7 Had Rear Main Seal Done Flexplate Removed By Mechanic Now

Had the rear main seal done where the flexplate had to be removed by a mechanic. Now the flexplate is broken in the middle. What could cause that?:

Over tightening the bolts can cause this.Of not having it sitting flush on the crankshaft as well.
