handbrake has been sticking

The handbrake has been sticking for the past week,but it seems ok when i started driving.But has i was driving tonight i set off and just as i turned the corner from my house the back brakes seized,i stopped the car for 5 min then continued my short journey to work.Do you think the hot weather has anything to do with it?

Check for contamination on the brakes and ensure that the handbrake cables are moving freely, start there.
