My 2002 Saturn service light & emergency light are staying on what is the problem

Do you mean the "Service Engine Soon" light or the "Check Engine" light? Those mean the Engine Computer has detected a problem and has set a diagnostic fault code in memory. Do not remove a battery cables or that valuable information will be lost.

Many auto parts stores will read those codes for you for free. They will get you into the circuit or system with the problem, not necessarily to the defective part.

Just to add to this one if the brake light is on like you have the brake on you have a bad switch on the rear of the ebrake arm or you have low brake fluid on your master cylinder. Those are the twomost likely causes of that. Also find out what the code numbers are and post the exact numbers.
