Engine Idle rattling

When stopped in traffic Low engine idle, rattling sound under hood. Was also wondering if putting in 10w 40 instead of the manual recommended 5w 30, would cause the engine to run sluggishly.

The 5w 30 is a 50 state weight oil that is recommended for all the different climate's.10w 40 shouldn't cause the engine run sluggish you just better be careful if it's still getting pretty cold up there it could be too heavy of a weight to run.So do you have a rattling or clicking?Those new S model's had issue's with clicking lifter's and the fix was to loosen and retorque them.Does it sound like it's coming from under the valve cover?
