how much should it cost to replace oil pump on 2002 saturn l300 ? car started clattering at lunch,drove slowly home 20 miles. as i turned onto my street enine died with low oil pressure and both service engine dash lights on. engine would turn over but not restart.

The symptoms are pointing toward a timing chain failure but a compression test would confirm that. It's risky to crank an engine over with a bad timing chain but you have already done it now so you can't do any further damage that way.

Just to add to this one the 3.0L v6 has a timing belt if it died and the oil light and both the service engine soon light came on and the wrench light came on that is what happens when the engine is not running.Doesn't mean you have a oil pressure issue i would make sure the oil is full check and see if you have any codes also see if your water pump pulley or any other pulleys are loose or making noise when turned.If all that checks out the make sure your timing belt didn't break or jump time.
