megane engine light

My renault megane will not go over 60mph without the engine management light coming on,and then loses power and only does about 30mph.if I turn the ignition off and on it resets it until I try and do 60 again.The model is a 2002 1.9dci mk1 megane.Any ideas.Thanks,Stewart

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis,finding out what's going on.
