2002 Pontiac Sunbird Right Rear Tail Break Light Blows Out Almost Immediately

The right rear tail /break light blows out almost immediately after being replaced.I have visually checked for damaged wires and there doesn't,appear to be any obvious shortages.
The left tail light operates fine.

Are you sure about year--make and model? My database has a sunfire for that year. Not a sunbird?
