Every now and then ( usually when cold ) it seems like the gearbox drops a gear and the gear selection display starts flashing. To cure this you have to stop, turn the engine off then restart. Any ideas please ?

There is an error in the transmisison ontrol or sensor circuits and you need a scan tool to retrieve the trouble codes to understand what is wrong.
