loosing power in drive

What can possible cause vehicle to be loosing power in drive and when i trying accelerate it just make a buffing noise. The engine is on not cutting off but the car is taking a while to pull off and when it dose it reaches to about 4rpm and less.

It sounds like the cat converter is plugged, go here for more info.
