what causes power to drop off when in reverse

when i try to back up its like i am pushing and letting off gas 4 - 5 times while reversing car goes then almost stops then goes again, tires grab and let go then grab again any idea why?

You''re problem could be in either the differential or the brakes and it needs to be inspected on a lift with both wheels off the ground to find out for4 sure where the problem is
