Whats are the exact code numbers you have?Sounds like it could be a speed sensor issue.

So when it gets up to operating temp it will start doing that till it cools down?Also do you have a multimeter to do some testing?

doesn't have to be hot or cold to happen

man I do appreciate your help,I changed the speed sensor on the tranny and that seemed to have worked.
