wont get over 3000 rpms?

2002 Nissan Xterra runs fine in 1st gear, but wont get over 3000 rpms in the next gear and not sure if it ever shifts again. Reverse runs fine along with 1st gear. Any help would be helpful.Thanks,Dave

Fixed other problems like a misfire by changing plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Cleaned and tested MAF sensor.

may be the trans not shifting or the cat converter may be clogged. get it checked to verify and get a bid.
