bogging down

When the engine hits 2500 RPM's, does it start missing, backfire, or anything you could describe to me? It sounds like the catalytic converter is plugged up but to be sure lets run down this guide.

Well it doesnt backfire. It slows me down and if i try to keep going faster it starts shaking and going crazy. Hard to explain because im in it but i dont think it backfires. If i keep it steady and slowly make my way to 60 mph which its hard to do and wont go a dime past that but my whole car shakes super bad. I dont know the definition of a car missing but i think it does because it putters real bad. If i dont drive it a whole day and i start it up and go before its warmed up it doesnt do it but once i get 10 miles down the road it starts screwing up.

I had this problem and the tune up fixed it FYI used all OEM parts. I love this site.

What would cause vehicle to have hesitation, loss of power, high idle cold, normal idle warm, downshifting sensation when auto. trans. shifts .

codes for throttle position sensor, knock sensor.
replaced tps and bypassed knock sensor
reset codes, reapear within 30 feet of driving
replaced spark plugs
ran cleaner in fuel tank
checked for bad grounds and vacuum leaks

clean teh throttle plate on both sides as well as iac valve with choke cleaner, then check fuel pressure and battery condition. you may not have all those codes and giving a flase reading due to low battery.spray choke cleaner around for vacuum leaks even though you checked and check vacuum hoses for being disconnected , split or broken.

It started to not want to go when I would start going from a stop and the rpm's needle started being weird as well. It has been being super sluggish. I was told my clutch was going out. That happened for the last couple weeks it started getting worse the other day. Then yesterday it smelled like it was getting hot, but I was not sure if it was my car. today same thing happened, but I knew it was my car today then engine light came on. After it cooled off I checked coolant and it seems fine does not seem to be leaking anything. but I checked the oil and to me it smelled like it might has fuel in it what could be the problem?

have the vehicle scanned and see what code is stored first, if the clutch is going bad it will give you a burning smell because the clutch disc is just thinned out so much its just spinning in there getting hot. The car is not moving because the clutch is probably just slipping, that would explain your tachometer going up and the car not going anywhere, trying to drive it is just going to make things worse.

My 2000 Nissan Xterra is running rough, When you give it gas it has no power until you hit about 35-40 mph. The head gaskets, knock sensor, water pump, exhaust manifold have all been replaced. The whole engine has been cleaned and tuned. What could be causing this? Thank you.

any luck? do a compression check, injector check.

I have a 2000 Nissan X-terra 3.3 liter and it will not shift until it reaches 5-6000 RPMs and it lacks power when trying to accelerate.

Have the TPS and VSS checked out.
