2002 Nissan Sentra suddenly died

2002 Nissan Sentra (Manual Transmission):
Dashboard lights all came on then the car started shaking and died.

About a week ago the battery and brake light would come on when the car was not in gear, then they would turn off in gear.

Today, the gauge lights started to flutter/flicker the car started shaking and died.

Have you tested the alternator and battery yet?

I haven't. I won't get to it until tomorrow, I'm looking for a checklist of things to check when I get to it tomorrow.
Any advice to run this one down will be appreciated!

With the battery light coming on and the other symptoms you mentioned I would have the battery and alternator tested make sure the battery cables are clean and tight. Do you have a multi meter to do some testing?Also will the engine crank over normal speed and start?

Does engine crank over normal speed?Does it start? Measure the voltage of the battery? Then if it starts measure the voltage at idle at the battery?
