after eng warmup, heat ind ind. says normal temp when heater is turned on a whoosh of warm air then cold air no heat aviable no mater what pos switches are placed at.

Make sure the coolant level is full and the blend air door is working properly. Also, feel both heater core hoses to make sure both are hot. That way you know if the coolant is circulating through the heater core or if the core is blocked.
