Can I add oil to my car from the top of the engine.
I checked my dip stick and my oil is on empty.

Did you check the oil level with the engine running? If you did, it will appear to be low. It must be checked when the engine is stopped. There is always an oil cap on top of the engine. Of more importance is why the level is so low. There would have to be a pretty bad leak that should be addressed.
