What the 3 mean next to the D?

Thee is no problem. I just wanted to know what the 3 mean next to the D on the gearshift column. Does that mean front wheel drive and do I pu the car in the 3 shift to drive in the snow?

Was there a 1 and 2 other than the 3, those are gears. You use third gear going up or down long slopes where engine breaking might be needed, this is according to your owners manual. Your owners manual has this info. I don't want to downshift on a slick road. Just my opinion.
