I have a 2002 mitsubishi lancer. I started having a problem with my car not going into gear about 2 weeks ago, I checked the brake fluid and it was still about half full so I filled it up. After that I really didn't have a problem until tonight. I had problems putting it into first gear and finally got it in, went around the corner at the red light and clutch wouldn't engage. Now when I push the clutch in a get a lot of grinding noises coming from it and it will not do anything now. Whats wrong?

It sounds like you have a leak in the slave cylinder causing the clutch to not fully disengage.

Here are a couple guides that will help with this:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/throw-out-bearing-replacement

Basically, we want to access the clutch and inspect the slave cylinder for any leakage. I attached the process below to bleed the clutch because if there is fluid it will be around this component or the line leading to it.

Please run through this and if you find it is leaking then you need to replace the slave cylinder, but I would suggest replacing the entire clutch as they normally wear out about the time the slave fails as well.

Let us know what other questions you have.

Thanks
