Car not starting light are very dim and their is a clicking sound when I pop the hood but stops when I turn on the lights in the car

First, check to make sure battery terminals are clean and tight. If they are, remove the battery, fully recharge it, and take it to a parts store and have it load tested. It sounds like you have a bad battery.
