2002 Mitsubishi Galant Hit Deer Smashed Front End Replaced Radiator Fans

I hit a deer and smashed my front end, I replaced the radiator but the fans are not kicking on even though they work, I think it may be the thermostat but untill i can get it fixed I was told to run the ac to keep the fans going so the car wont over heat, is that a good idea?? any suggestions?
