It happened once and I put an oversized thread adaptor on it and it held. This happen again to a differant plug and it will not stay in. It keeps blowing out. Is this a common problem and is there a easier fix then replacing the head?

Yes it's a common Ford problem. I suspect the dealer will have an "improved" head available, otherwise, visit an engine machine shop to see if they recommend installing inserts in every spark plug hole right away, or if they think replacing the heads will be less costly in the long run. Ford is having the same problem with their truck engines. They don't talk much about THAT quality on their tv ads.
