2002 Mercedes Benz C270 gearbox

Prior to the problem took my car in to have a new suspension coil spring fitted and the mecanic allso solved the problem with my drivers door not locking he removed the switch and gave it to me to get a new one seemed to drive ok when I picked it up parked it up at home in the morning went in to reverse finebut would not go threw neutral into drive my son tried it wobbled the gear stick and it went into drive now it is stuck in neutral and drive but wont go back into reverse any help thanks

Probably the selector lock out solenoid or switch, check your owners manual that should be an over ride to by pass it when it fails, I will look into the probable cause and re post a bit later.

Thanks where is the switch located will it be on the gear shift unit or on the break servo and can the switch be replaced or will I need a new complete unit

I do not have any info on a 2002 c 270, it is not in Mitchell 1 data base, normally the brake light switch activates the solenoid under the selector, your owners manual will give a location of an over ride, all cars have them, but I have no info on your model.
