why is the ignition key not received at the key slot? the car does not recognize it! should i not replace it with a new one?

You should replace it with a new one and get some spare keys and push button remote key fobs while you are at it. The keys and fobs don't cost much but the dealer will hjave to program them all together and that is a little expensive so it is a good idea to get spares when you do it.
