battery light goes on and off

I have an Mazda 626 2002. the battery light goes on and off. the battery tested good and the alternator is a year old. what might be the cause

Docfixit is most probably correct but check for bad ground circuit connections. A broken alternator bracket would result in that. The other possible cause would be a bad crank pulley if equipped with harmonic damper, which has failed.
