2002 Kia Sportage steering

2002 KIA SPORTAGE

on way home from store, steering was giving me trouble, very hard to turn. Got home steering fluid empty,filled it but still hard to steer. does it take time to get theough or have I broken something?

You could have done internal damage to the pump by running it low or you could also still have air in the system. Let it sit and check the level again.
