02 Kia Spectra, recent tune up including fuel filter and change of TPS Sensor. First it would not start when hot. Few days later would not start when cold unless you pumped the throttle. I adjusted the hard set idle position on the Throttle body so that it would idle. Worked fine till it got hot then it idles to fast, Way too fast. As well it drops out from full RPM to an idle and back while driving. Being that it’s a manual transmission I can’t do much to help by resetting the hard stop idle screw. After it runs hot and idles at high RPM I get a TPS code. Just changed it? Did I confuse the computer by changing the idle set? Did I get a bad replacement TPS? Could I have a bad or failing Idle are motor going out but no code received? Could I have a bad fuel Injection main relay? What am I missing here? It’s my loving sister’s car and she is lost without it running. Please Help, Thanks, Z

It sounds like you are on the right track. I would try a different TPS before the warranty runs out. If that doesn't help, check to make sure the fuel pump pressure is within spec. Also, check for vacuum leaks on the engine.

I didn't think about a vacuum leak. If the TPS sensor checks out and no vacuum leak what what next? The Relay or the are motor? Will I have any problem after reseting the hard set on the idle?

Thanks, Z

You may have to take it back down. Shouldn't be a big issue. Check that ane let me know what you find. You may want to check the catalytic converter to make sure it isn't plugging. That will cause similar issues.
