thumping noise coming from the back of the car

Coming to work this morning when I applied by brakes I heard a thumping noise coming from the back of the car and the brake pedal was pushing on my foot to go back to the normal position.

Thupping sound when I apply the brakes the brake pedal is pushing my foot back to the normal position

Have the rear brakes inspected-is it a disc or drum brakes?
