At times more often then not my jeep will not start turn the key and does not crank over. Replaced the starter and battery no check engine light has came on either. Sometimes if I try a couple of times then wait it will start. Could this be crank positioning sensor?

Do you hear a single kind of loud clunk from the starter each time you turn the ignition switch to "crank"? Just a light click from the starter relay? No sound at all?

You might be hearing the starter relay. They don't fail very often, but you might try swapping it with another one like it as a test. Use the AC compressor relay if it is the same style.

There are other relays that will be turning on and off at the same time. You might be hearing one of those. The starter circuit can be split into four individual circuits for testing. Each one can be tested at the starter relay socket with a test light or voltmeter. I can walk you through the steps but you'll have to catch it while the problem is occurring.
