today i noticed a leak in the hose coming from the coolant resvoir. took to the shop and they told me it was the water pump, but when i looked again i can clearly see the coolant/water mixtur pulsing from the connection where that hose meets second hose that goes to the radiator (i assume). not sure how this could be the water pump. would like to save money on repair if possible

On a 4 litre engine there are 2 water pumps, one aux for the heater system and the main mechanical pump on the front of the engine, i would go get a second opinion on the leak, i would get a jag specialist to check this just to be sure, a cooling system pressure test will shop up any external leak, this is the test that they should be doing.
