Windshield Wipers stopped working properly

today the windshield wipers stopped working properly. They will not move upward instead they move downward into the hood. What is causing this and how do I fix it?

why the rear and sometimes front windshield wipers stop working?

You would need to perform test to find out why. It could be the switch, wiring, wiper or even a loose fuse.
