I took my 2002 Honda CRV in for an oil change and was told that all four brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced at the cost of $711. I have 2 questions. Is it normal for all 4 brakes and rotors to need replacement at the same time? And is this a fair price for the repair? Thank you!

Hello,

Not usually, in most instances the front are replaced more often than the rear. However, a lot will depend on driving habits. If you keep up on the brakes and have them checked on a regular schedule you shouldn't need to replace the rotors. In most cases the only reason to replace the rotors is do to pads being worn down to metal and the metal pad digging into the rotor damaging it.

The quote they gave seens a little high but will depend on the cost of the pads and rotors.

If you feel you can do the work you can save a bunch of $$$$$.
