My Honda wont start. It thinks its in D4 put its in park. Help please

Have you checked to make sure the shifter linkage is properly attached? If it is, and the wrong gear shows up, the most common problem is a range sensor. It sends a signal to the computer indicating what gear the transmission is shifted into. If it doesn't think it's in park or neutral, it won't start.
